Principal, Peachtree Elementary School

Hello, and welcome to Panther country! My name is Carmen Garland and I am the proud new principal of Peachtree Elementary School. I graduated from MHS and have been in education since 1999. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Western Carolina University, a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from East Tennessee State University, and  Master of Education Administration from Western Carolina University. I later received my National Board Certification. I began teaching Kindergarten at Hiwassee Dam Elementary School and then moved to Ranger Elementary/Middle.  Later, I moved into the Gifted Lead role for CCS grades K-12. I moved to Whiteville, NC  in 2014 for my husband's job where I was an Instructional Coach and Director at Central Services.  We then moved to Monticello, Georgia where I worked in Central Office.  For the last couple of years, I have been the principal at The Oaks Academy here in Murphy.

I have a wonderful, supportive family whom I love dearly. My husband, Kenny Garland, my sons, Camden and Lucas, and my daughter-in-law, Sarah Kate are the center of my world.  As a family, we love education and supporting our community.

Peachtree Elementary School is a wonderful school where students receive quality academic instruction in a safe, caring, and respectful environment. Peachtree is a special place because of the terrific people that learn and work here and because of the community in which it is located.

I look forward to serving the students and families of the Peachtree community. My door is always open to parents, students, staff, and community members. I want to thank you in advance for your support of Peachtree Elementary School. Please do not hesitate to call or email with any questions or concerns that you may have during the year.
